The line graph gives information about amount of products were transported in the UK by road, water, rail and pipeline from 1974 to 2002. Overall, it can be clearly seen that road was always more preferring transport modes than the rest of other while pipeline formed the lowest part of transit route over the period.
In 1974, approximately 70 million tonnes goods carried via the roads. In the same year, rail and water channels were showed the same number of outputs with just under 40 million tonnes whereas pipeline transported the least quantity of goods with nearly 5 million tonnes.
Between 1974 and 2002, the number of products which removed via road increased steadily from 70 million tonnes to almost 100 million tonnes. Also, pipeline transport mode showed a gradual rise and then nearly 21 million around the end of the period.
Even if the water transport was used a stable pattern from 1982 to nearly 1992, it dropped by 65 million tonnes in 2002. Railway transportation was showed a steep fall in the number of goods in the UK between 1978 and 1992 and then a gradual rise until 2002.
