The given line graph provides information about the changes in the price of fresh fruits and vegetables, sugars and sweets, and carbonated drinks consumed by the urban dwellers of the US from 1978 to 2009. The graph also mentioned the general trend in the consumer Index price during this period.
The figures for all categories remained almost below 70 in 1978, but by the end of 2009 the price of fresh fruits and vegetables showed a dramatic increase despite of some fluctuations and reached the zenith at above 300. Similarly, even though there was a gradual hike in the price of sugars, sweets and carbonated drinks, it always remained below 200 compared to the fresh fruits and vegetables over a period of 30 years. However, the consumer price-index showed a slow and steady increase during the period and fluctuated approximately between 70 and 225.
Overall, the demand for fresh fruits and vegetables surged among the city people compared to the other categories.
