The graph illustrates the price changes of three differents goods in compare with the consumer price index from 1978 to 2009.
Overall, it is evident that the price of fresh fruits and vegestables, sugars and sweets and carbonated drinks increased along with the consumer price index over the period of 31 years. However, only the price of fresh fruits and vegestables was higher than the consumer price index.
During the period, the consumper price index rose steadily from about 60 in 1979 to more than 200 in 2009. The prices of sugars and sweets and carbonated drinks had the same tendency buts the carbonated drinks' price was consistently lower than the sugars and sweets' one, especially since 1989. In 2009, the price of sugars and sweets reached exactly 200 while the price of carbonated drinks just increased to more than 150.
Although there were some minor fluctuations in price of fresh fruits and vegestable, in general, its was usually higher than the consumer price index. Having the same beginning in 1979 at about 60, the price of fruits and vegestables reached peak of more than 300 at the end of the period in 2009.
