The line graph gives information about the funding going to sustainable energy research in countries including Switzerland, Denmark, Spain and the UK over a 25-year period.

It is noticeable that Switzerland invested the most amount of money into renewable energy research over the period shown, whereas Spain and the UK provided less amount of financial support in this sector.

In 1975, there was no budget allocated for the research among four countries.
During the next 5 years, the figure for spending in Switzerland saw a significant increase, reaching 2.5 dollars per person in 1980, followed by Denmark and Spain, with 1.8 dollars per person and 1 dollar per person respectively. The last ranked country is the UK, with only 0.5 dollar of spending each person.

From 1980 to 1992, investments from Spain and Britain fluctuated, but by 1992, Spain overtook Britain as the third ranking country and continued to rise for the rest of the period. By the end of the period, the figure for Switzerland increased to a peak of slightly over 5 dollars per head. Similarly, expenditures from Denmark had a relatively larger increase in the last five years, from 2 dollars to 3 dollars per head.
