The graph below shows UK air pollutants in millions of tonnes, from three different sources, between 1990 and 2005.
The information about the air pollution emission in UK from three different sources during the period of 1990 to 2005 is shown in the line chart. The figures are given in millions of tonnes. Overall, it can be seen that there is a downward trend of air pollution in total which the household contributed the least level of pollution over the period.
To begin with, in 1900, the total level of pollution was 8 which was all time the highest level of pollution. Following this, it declined steadily by 3 to finish at 5 in the last period. The highest level of pollution in 1900 caused mainly by the industry sector which stood at 6 while the others had a similar number of 1 in 1900. After that, the level of pollution emitted by industry sector fell gradually to 2.5 in 2002. Nevertheless, the contribution from household sector remained unchanged at 1 until 1999 before decreasing by 0.5 in 2002. Similarly, the transport’s pollution level fluctuated around 1 until 1999 which then increased to 2.5 in 2002 as same as those of industry sector in that year.
Moving to the remaining period, transportation turned to play the major role in air pollution emission instead of industry sector. The pollution from transportation increased to reach a peak of 3 in 2005. While, industry sector and household were all had a similar movement which plunged to their low of 2 and no emission respectively.
