Overall, it is clear that, initially opening new stores were prominent which dropped during the period, while the reverse was true for the closure of shops. However, the least amount of stores closed in 2015.
According to the graph, the significant amount of new shops inaugurated in 2011 whose numbers were around 8,500, which then declined sharply to 4000 in the next year, before soaring back steadily to above 6000 in 2014. During the same period, shop closeness undergo minimal change, which first fell to 6000 in 2012, then grew back to 7100 in 2013 and by 2014, it plunged to 6,500. Although, minimum numbers of retailers abandoned businesses in 2015 at 500 only, their rate showed resilience and return back to 4000 which remained unchanged until 2018. In comparison, the initiation of new shops plateaued between 2015 and 2016, before plummeting to 4000, and finally with a further drop of 1000, its number stood at 3000 at the end of the period.
