The provided line graphs compare the number of overseas or local students who applied for Australian universities over a period of 9 years starting from 2001 to 2010. Overall the local students outnumbered those who were overseas ones. the figure of foreign students' enrolments is gradually increasing, which leads to the rise in the total number of overseas pupils.
As can be seen in the chart, the total number of new international applicants of the university in Australia in 2001 was 20000, 1/20 times higher than local applicants. Two years later, the total amount of other country’ students continue to went up and got a point at 30000 in 2003, before witnessing a period of ceaseless growth to hit the highest point at 80000 in 2010, 2/15 times higher than the rate of local students. When looking at the total figure of Australian’s students, beginning at 400000 in 2001 then upward rapidly from 2001 to 2007 and reach a pick at 600000 in 2007, this figure remained steady over a period between 2007 and 2010. When it comes to the commencing amount of foreign’s students, starting at nearly 10000 in 2001, approximately 1/17 times higher than the figure of Australian’ students. The rate of overseas students applied to Australian universities changed slowly between 2001 and 2006. From 2006 to 2010, the number grew dramatically and hit the highest point at just above 40000 in 2010. It can be clearly observed that the commencing rate of Australian pupils in 2001 was around 17000. From the following year to 2006, the commencing number of Australian’s people applied for Australian universities declined substantially then continue changing and got a point at 200000, 10 times higher than foreign’s amount.
