The graphs display the number of drivers in Britain who have been spotted exceeding the speed limit on speed cameras as well as the number of fatalities due to road accidents for an 8-year period since the installation of speed cameras on the roads.

Overall, even after the introduction of speed cameras, road accident fatalities number fluctuated in the same range over an eight-year period. Meanwhile, the number of speed limit violation fines kept on rising.

The tables give information about public’s thoughts regarding speed cameras. Turned out that 60% of the respondents believed that the cameras did not improve road safety at all whereas 32% of them believed it did.

Regarding the purposes of installment, 26% of the participant felt that the purpose is to enhance roads safety, while, 71% thought that it was for materialistic purposes, since the number of fatalities hasn’t decreased, but rather fluctuating between 3000 and 3500 lives lost in road accidents annually on the other hand, the number of fined drivers kept on rising until it spiked in the last two years reaching nearly 1.6 million fines. Moreover, 56% of the voters think that the number of cameras is redundant.
