Household Budget Allocations

The pie charts illustrate how moderate-income families allocate the house budget for 4 different types of expenses in the years of 2010 and 2012.

Overall, housing accounted for the largest proportion of expenditure in both given years. Likewise, there was a significant increase in the percentage of housing and Food/Clothes spending.

Housing expense was the biggest percentage as 35% while that of miscellaneous was lowest by 15% in 2010. Other major allocations were equal to one quarter, belonging to Food/Clothes and Vacations/Leisure.

However, there were some changes in their percentages after two years. Most remarkably, In 2012, housing expenses became half of the whole budget increasing by 15%. Budget allocation of Food/Clothes also had a similar trend but increased only 10%. However, Vacations/Leisure and other expenditure decreased by 15% and 10% respectively. Miscellaneous expenditure remained as the lowest allocation for both years. Necessary needs for living such as accommodation, eating, and dressing have increased dramatically to 85% while others decreased to 15%.
