A more detailed look illustrates that percentages for two different accommodation types experienced exactly opposite trends. While the proportion of residents of their own property saw a swift upward trend from nearly 23 percent to approximately 65 percent until end of the given period, percentage of people who rents house experienced a sharp decrease from 77% to 35%.
In 1918, there was a highest gap between the proportion of accommodation owners and renters with 54 percent. Nonetheless, being resident of own house gained popularity year by year and by 1971 there was an equal proportion of owned and rented accommodation. Furthermore, renting accommodation continued to lose its commonness until 2001 when the nearly 69% of population lived in their own house and 31% rented, before a small rebound that bucked a trend at the end of the period with owned accommodation declining to roughly 64% and rented houses climbing to 36%.
