Vaccination for flu was tried on the women of a large town in the countryside in the month of June during the year 1996 on an experimental basis. The bar chart indicates deaths from flu of the natives from March to August. The pie chart illustrates the percentage of females who are at a maximum risk, out of those who were given vaccination. The lines on the third graph depict the number of death cases filed based on gender for a period of 11 months from February to December.
To begin with, the death of only one female from flu was reported before the experiment was conducted. This rose to a maximum of four during two months after June. As compared to this, only two males died during this period from June to August as a result of this epidemic.
Secondly, the pie chart shows that the vaccine was given to only the females who were at a maximum risk from the disease, out of which 28% did not take part in the trial. Women who were senior citizens formed the largest group at 35% of those who took the vaccine and the smallest was formed by the ones who were hospitalized at a mere 13% of the total. Additionally, 24% were babies or children from those who were involved in the experiment.
From the line graph, it can be observed that the number of female deaths increased to 1000 in March and reached its peak in June with as many as 3500 women dying from the disease. After that, the death rate decreased and levelled to 2500 for the rest of the year. The figures for males show a similar trend, but at a lower value than that of their female counterparts.
