The line graph below shows the household recycling rates in three different countries between 2005 and 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph compares the proportion of family recycling in the UK, France and Germany over a period of 10 years.

It can be seen from the chart that the overall trend was upward, as the percentage of household reusing for all three categories increased during the period. In particular, the proportion of France plummeted from the highest to the lowest percentage before rising significantly in the last 2 years, while there were gradual rises for the UK (moving it from 2nd to 1st place) and Germany.

France began the period with the highest percentage figure of approximately 50% in 2005. It is experienced a clear steady decline despite a surge in the last two years, reaching roughly 40 percent in the last year of the survey.

Moving on to the UK, there was a slight increase from about 30 percent to 40 percent between 2005 and 2007, then this figure stayed constant until surpassing France’s proportion in 2009. After that, it is witnessed dramatic growth and flattened out at around 60 percent. Similarly, Germany followed the same pattern when Germany’s rate shaw a sudden upturn to finish at approximately 58 percent at the end of the period.
