The line graph presents information on the amount of articles published annually from 2006 - 2012 by male and female university professors in the U.K. while the bar chart illustrates publications by the humanities, sciences and arts department from Warwick, Sheffield, York and Birmingham university over the same period surveyed.

Overall, data on the line graph show that male university professors published the highest number of articles over the period. The bar chart shows that the humanities department had the highest number of publication's in all the universities over the period.

From the line graph, at the beginning of the period, the male professors published more articles than the female professors at 3000 and 1000 respectively. This increased to over 3000 publications for the male professors and a peak of 3000 articles for their female counterparts by the end of the period.

The bar chart shows that the humanities department in Warwick university had the highest amount of publications in the four universities over the period at 120, followed by the sciences department at 90 and the arts department at 85. This is in comparison to the humanities and arts department at the Birmingham university, which had the lowest numbers of publications at 30 and approximately 15 respectively. The sciences department in sheffield university had the lowest score of published articles at about 10 amongst all the universities surveyed.
