The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population from 1950 to 2050.
The line chart illustrates how the population in New Zealand changed from 1950 with predictions to 2050.
In general, there is a gradual decrease in the percentage of people from 25-37 while the opposite is true for other groups over a 100-year period. In addition, over 65 people accounted for the highest percentage of population throughout the period, including future figures.
In 1950, the proportion of those who are above 65 made up 60% of total New Zealand population, which was by far higher than that of 38-45 people and 25-37 people, at about 25% and nearly 21% respectively. Meanwhile, the figure for people under 14 was the lowest, at 5%
From 1990 afterward, New Zealand witnessed a gradual growth to 70% in the percentage of people who are older than 65 and a similar change was seen in the proportion of people aged from 38 to 45, which grew dramatically to 48%. Both figures are projected to decline to 65% and 40% respectively in the last year of the period. A considerable decrease was seen in the percentage of people aged from 25 to 37 and this number is likely to continue to fall to 0% in 2050. By contrast, the proportion of people who are younger than 14 gradually went up and it is expected to reach 205 in 2050
