The line graphs illustrate Australia trade with three different countries, which is calculated in Australian dollars.
Overall, it is noticeable that while the value of trade with Japan and China experienced fluctuations during the period shown, the value of exports and imports to and from USA remained relatively stable.
In 2004, imports from Japan was valued at about 18 billion dollars, rising to reach a peak of 40 billion dollars, before falling to about 31 billion dollars at the end of the period shown.
In contrast, the value of exports to USA was considerably higher than imports value to that country. Over the period from 2004 to 2009, while exports to USA was valued at around 30 billion dollars, imports value from USA remained relatively stable at 10 billion dollars.
The value of exports and imports to and from China in 2004 were estimated at 11 and 20 billion dollars respectively.
