The object of media is to reveal the truth, whereas there do have some dark parts. If children could realize that the world is complex and sophisticated, individuals will always encounter numerous temptations. They will not be too naive and stand behind their parents all the time. By keeping in touch with the truth, they are more likely to deal with various things in the real world.
In a nutshell, despite exposure to some negative reports is a kind of risk to children, the positive parts are more dominant. By doing so, not only would it help them distinguish right from wrong but also conducive to independence.
