The three drawings illustrate the number of changes which has taken place in the region during a 63-year time period.
Overall, it is noteworthy that Meadowside village has increased in size to become Meadowside suburbs merging with Fonton. Additionally, the most noticeable alteration is the construction of a residential area in 1985 and a business park in the present time.
Meadowside village, which had a road running through from the west, was expanded in 1985 with the appearance of the housing estate in the west, a leisure centre and a superstore in the south-west. Similarly, Fonton having a railway line going through from the east was extended to the south of the map. Moreover, the road was converted into the main road which was expanded to the east while the railway line remained unchanged.
Turning to the present time, Meadowside suburbs, which was then a village back in 1985, and Fonton have continued to be extended and merged. In a similar fashion, housing estate appeared to increase in size. Conversely the leisure complex, superstore and roads have remained unchanged over 36 years. Additionally, it can be seen that a station which has had a new railway line connected to the old one has been constructed in the centre of suburbs, together with the erection of the business park to the south and a hotel to the north-east.
