The maps compare the layouts of a book store in the year 2000 and now. Generally, the store’s transformation centralizes around the relocation of books for various genres and the installment of a new seating area and a café.
In 2000, visitors of the store after entering were met by a section displaying travel book and to the right of it, another section for new arrivals while he service desk could be found at the corner to the right of the entrance. Until now, these areas have been kept unchanged.
By contrast, the most striking rearrangement could be seen in that for fiction. This used to occupy large spaces, spanning one long section to the left of the entrance and a shorter one at the back of the store. The size for fiction area, however, has been reduced significantly, as the genre now shares space with art, hobbies, and cookery books, which used to be placed on three separate shelves at the center of the room. Thus, the center of the store is now filled with 3 sets of tables and chairs. Lastly, non-fiction work has also been reallocated, taking up the area at the back while its past position has been converted into a café.
