The maps below show the village of Stokeford in 1930 and 2010. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

The maps illustrate the development of Stokeford village between 1930 and 2010. As can be clearly seen that the village changed dramatically to fulfill the demands of the residents, which primarily focused on accommodations, while the accessibility and public buildings of the village remained unchanged.

Looking at the maps in more detail, we can see that there a lot of houses were added to accommodate the residents. The number of houses increased significantly from exactly ten houses to over fifty houses in the given period of time, which replaced all the farmland and shops. Furthermore, half of the gardens were reduced to construct more houses and the large house in the gardens was developed into a retirement home for elders. The primary school was almost double during the mentioned period.

As opposed to the changes shown above, several facilities of the village remained the same from 1930 to 2010, which were the bridge and the post office. Although the shops were replaced by houses, the post office remained unchanged throughout the given time period. This is due to it was the only way connecting the village to the outside.
