The maps illustrate the change in Stokeford’s village between 1930 and 2010.
Overall, it is clearly shown that River Stoke and the bridge remained unchanged throughout the given period of time. While the number of farmlands decreased, more and more houses had been built beside the main road.
The village of Stokeford was located at the east of the River Stoke. Parallel to this river, the main road connected the bridge on the farthest northeast side of the village in both maps. In 1930, there were a few houses on both sides of the main road. On the west of the road, there were two shops and a post office. On the other side, there was a primary school, large gardens, and a connecting road to the northeast of the River Stoke. Two large farmlands were visible on the southwest and the northeast of the map.
In 2010, the position of the post office, the bridge, and the primary school remained unchanged, though, the school building was enlarged. The shops and the farmlands disappeared and more houses were built. There were more roads connecting to the main road. The large house was converted into a retirement house with some extensions to its structure.
