The bar chart compares the proportion of British men, women and children who fulfilled the daily suggested intake of fruits and vegetables from 2002 to 2010.
Overall, it is clear that women were the most likely to have eaten the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables in a day. By contrast, children were the least likely demographic to have done so.
In 2002, a quarter of women consumed their suggested intake of fruits and vegetables every day, compared to 22% for men and only 11% for children. Growth was seen in all three demographics 4 years later. The percentage of men successfully consuming the daily recommended amount rose by 4 percentage points, while a more dramatic growth of 7 percentage points was experienced by the figures for women and kids.
2010 observed a regression in the figures for all three demographics. The percentage for both men and children dropped slightly, recording 24% and 16% respectively. Meanwhile, the figures for women witnessed a steep fall of 6 percentage points, ending the period at 26%.
