Percentage of water consumption for different purposes in six areas of the world
The water consumption for industry in North America and Europe makes up a significant proportion, at 48 percent and 53 percent respectively. Regarding the amount of water consumed for agriculture, the former spent 39 per cent, which is 7 per cent higher than the latter’s amount. In contrast, North American utilized 13 percent of water for domestic use, at 2 percent lesser compared to 15 percent in Europe.
Looking at the rest areas, the amount of water utilized for irrigation, by contrast, takes dominant portions, in which Central Asia consumed the highest at 88 per cent and South America spent the lowest at 71 percent. With regard to the consumption of water for industry, South East Asia spent the highest amount of 12 percent, compared to around 5 – 10 percent in three remaining areas. While water for domestic use in South America double the individual amount in the others whose range is from 7 to 9 percent.
