Percentages of mobile phone owners using various mobile phone features
The given table shows us information about how people used their mobile phones for multiple purposes in the year 2006, 2008 and 2010.
It is clear that throughout the given period, the main reason for people to have cell phones is always to be able to make phone calls. However, as time went by, there were some dramatic increases in the figures for other functions of mobile phones.
In 2016, 100% of people used their cell phones to make calls. The second popular function was messaging as its usage level stood at 73%. By contrast, the proportions of owners who used their mobile phones as multimedia tools to play game or music were significantly lower, at less than 20% respectively. Furthermore, internet and recording video features were not available on mobile devices at that time.
Throughout the next 4 years, dialing and messaging remained to be the most used features on mobile phones with some insignificant changes in numbers. Meanwhile, the proportion of people using internet features on their phones increased sharply and stood at 41% in 2008 before jumping to 73% in 2010. Similarly, video recording was not available in 2006, but became more and more popular since 2008 and had the percentage of 35% at the end of the given period.
