In total, during the 1990s, Europe was the highest in land degradation with 23 percent, followed by Oceania (13%) and North America (5%). specifically, land degraded by deforestation in Europe was the highest among other regions while North America was the lowest. In over-cultivation, Europe had 7.7 percent and North America 3.3 percent. In contrast, there was no land degradation by this activity in Oceania. However, Oceania became the highest in over-grazing by 11.3 percent, followed by Europe (5.5%) and North America (1.5 %).
