A glance at the pie chart provided reveals the reasons of degradation of agricultural land throughout the world and the table indicates the levels of degradation in North America, Europe, and Oceania in the 1990s.
Overall, over-grazing has the most detrimental impact on the land degradation. The three mentioned reasons shown in the pie chart caused the most serious damage in the agriculture industry in Europe.
Having a closer look on the pie chart, reasons of land degradation can be concluded to four proportion, namely over-grazing, deforestation, over-cultivation, and other minor factors. Over-grazing accounts for 35% damages on Earth, followed by 30% of deforestation. Third in terms of the negative impact on Earth is over-cultivation, occupied by around 28%.
In Europe, there was 9.8% of land degraded by deforestation in the researching years. Surprisingly, the main element causing worldwide land degradation (over-grazing), had caused just over 5% of land in Europe damage. Not to mention 23% of land there has been damaged. The situation of land damage was better in Oceania, with only approximately 13% of land was damaged in total. The factors causing land degradation, however, happened rather rare in North America, which accounted for only 5% in average.
