The pie charts below give information about the household expenditure of an average US family in different years.
Given are the graphs illustrating the average household expenditure in the US in both 1970 and 2004.
Overview, it is clear from the first chart that childcare was the category receiving the least expenditure of the total group. Remarkably, people tend to spend the most on the mortgage from the second graph.
In 1970, the percentage of the mortgage was highest, at 26%, while the figure for food and clothing was slightly lower, at 25% and 22% respectively. In terms of transport and entertainment, they saw the same expenditure (13%); however, childcare occupied only 1% which was the smallest compared to the other items.
On the second chart, the mortgage was also the dominant choice and it evenly rose twofold. In 2004, while mortgage experienced an increase, the other household expenditure including clothing, food, and transport saw a slight lull which reached 10%, 12% and 5% respectively. However, entertainment followed by a period of stability after thirty-four years. Childcare was negatively correlated which increased rapidly by 9% to 10%.
