The charts illustrate sources of information which Germans and Nigerians initially get their news from during a normal 7-day period of time. It should be noted figures for Nigerians rural areas are not mentioned.

A first glance at the charts reveal that Nigerians tend to rely on television to approach news in the first place, meanwhile, in Germany, conventional way using newspapers is predominant.

Looking at the details, the majority of Nigerians (63%) uses televised programs as the initial source of news, which is more than twice as much as the German statistic of this sector. Unlike in Nigeria, Germans are in favor of the printed materials the most with just under half of the population takes advantage of these. Citizens from Nigeria, however, do not have much reliance on this method.

With regard to the unlisted first places to get access to the news, they account for approximately one fourth of the news readers in both nations. Whilst German figures are generally equally distributed, which includes 10% for radio and 11% for using the Internet, Nigerians have nearly no interest in the websites, leaving the use of radio to take a significant proportion of more than one fifth.
