Essay topics:

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The maps illustrate the transformation of Grange Park from 1920 to the present.

Overall, it is evident that the park witnesses radical changes where some facilities were replaced by more advanced ones.

Looking into details, the fountain in the centre of the park was removed to give way to a rose garden which was surrounded by four seats. However, there is a remaining rose garden located in the top-right left hand corner of the park. Similarly, the two entrances are still unchanged today.

Furthermore, the stage for musicians in the left-hand corner was renovated as an amphitheater for concerts. In the present, there is a children’s playground area in the top right-hand corner which used to be a pond for water plants. Besides, the rose garden next to the pond was converted into a café. The glasshouse near the south entrance has been affected and now it is transformed into a water feature. Finally, the park has witnessed a construction of a new entrance underground car park, replacing the southeast seats.
