PROCESS OF MAKING SUGAR FROM SUGARCANE

The diagram shows the manufacturing process for making sugar from sugar cane.

The given diagram illustrates the manufacturing process of extracting sugar from sugarcanes. The process does require both man and machinery to work together

The initial process of extracting sugar from sugar cane starts from the process of growing sugarcane in sand at shallow levels of water for 12-18 months. After which , the fully grown sugarcane is harvested either by tractors or by hand. The harvested sugarcane is then taken to a crusher to produce sugarcane juice

The next step in extracting sugar is the recently obtained sugarcane juice is then poured into a “limestone filter” that is used for purifying the juice from all insects and soil. Then the purified juice is placed in an “evaporator” which uses heat to convert the juice into a syrup with sugar crystals present in it. Then the syrup mixture is placed in a centrifuge that separated the sugar crystals from the sugar syrup.
Finally, the sugar crystals are stored in a container and is kept to dry and cool to create the by-product that is sugar. Extracting sugar is long and tedious process and requires work done by people and machine
