The illustration gives information on the percentage of UK population who watched television and listened to the radio at day time during the months from October to December in the year 1992. Overall, people chose the radio as the source of information and entertainment in the morning, at about half past eight, while most of the audience watched TV in the evening, at approximately 8 p.m.
From the line graph we see that the number of radio listeners increased dramatically - from 5% at 6 a.m. to 26%. After that the figure steadily fell and reached it's minimum level at midnight.
As for the statistics with TV spectators, the number of them was negligible during the morning hours. It raised gradually then up to nearly 50%. Subsequently, it dropped significantly till the end of the day.
Most strikingly, the line which represents TV audience overtook the line for radio listeners at 1 p.m. Also, the ratio of TV audience of the UK population throughout the day was substantially greater than the one of those whose choice was the radio.
