Some people believe that it is essential to include physical education classes in the curriculum for all school aged children Others think that children s time is better spent on more academic subjects
Nowadays, in order to achieve the holistic development of children, adding a physical education period in school curricula has become a hot topic among the masses. Many people seem to welcome this idea, while others contradict this statement in the context of higher academic value. Although the increased competition compels parents to worry more about academic learning, the sedentary lifestyle of children due to more dependency on technology and lack of safe places presses a panic button for many others. This essay will emphasize on various factors highlighting both the aspects in detail followed by my opinion in favor of including a physical class in school.
It is an undeniable fact that society is becoming highly competitive day by day in which getting higher grades and choosing the best university for good jobs and a secure future is becoming indispensable. Also, parents being responsible citizens should put their sincere inputs on the physical workout of their children. For instance, Parents can enroll children in some extracurricular activities to reduce increased pressure on the school system. Hence, looking at the broader picture of the bright future of kids academically, schools should only focus on the core subjects.
On the contrary, with regard to the other aspect, lack of safe playgrounds outside make parents rely more on the safer area provided by schools. Moreover, some children are not academically so strong to crack tough competitive exams, hence exposure to different sports can help them to decide their vocation in the future. For example, in history, we can witness many great personalities who did a marvelous job by pursuing a successful career in sports. So, designing school courses by keeping in mind the overall health of children is an intelligent step to be opted by all the educational bodies.
To conclude, it is a moot point among different sections of society, whether to support a change in the school curriculum with regard to physical education. In my opinion, having been trained on a physical level in schools, children can foresee numerous career avenues in the future while maintaining good physical health.
