The table below illustrates the actual and predicted populations in three particularly city namely: Sao Paulo, Jakarta and Shanghai.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that, they predicted that all the cities civilian number would increase but in fact, there was an upward trend in the number of resident in both sao paulo and jakarta while it was an downward trend in the shanghai ‘s population.
According to the table, in 1990 the inhabitants number of sao paulo came top with 15 million whereas jakarta came bottom with 9,5 million. In addition , sao paulo ‘s population was expected to went up to 24 million and this figure in jakarta was 14 million, less than 10 million in comparison with the sao paulo ‘ number. However, between 1990 and 2000 experienced a significant rise in both sao paulo and jakarta from 15 to 18 million and 9,5 to 11,5 million people respectively and these number were all lower than the prediction.
Meanwhile, the number of resident in shanghai stood at 13.5 million in 1990 and this figure was predicted to reach 17 million in 2000. By contrast, the population of shanghai fell to 12.5 million ten year later.
