Overall, it is evident that all types of transport experienced an upward trend in 2000. Yet, the number of miles travelled by walking, bicycle, and local bus reached a record low in 2000, which was down from 15 years ago.
The average distance in miles travelled by car was significantly higher in 2000, at 4806 miles than any of the other modes of travel; whereas, the small quanity of miles travelled by person using a bicycle, at 41 miles in 2000. Each person walked nearly 255 miles in 1985, compared to a moderate fall in 2000, at approximately 240 miles. There was a twofold decrease in the number of local bus used in miles by roughly 200 miles.
The figure for miles used by taxi reached the lowest point, at 42 miles in 2000. This was up from an estimated threefold rise of 13 miles in 1985. Similarly, there was an increase in the number of miles used by bus, train, and other modes of travel in 2000, at 124 miles, 336 miles, and 585 miles respectively.
