The table compares the percentage of spending in 3 categories in Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002.
Overall, Turkey spent the most compared to other nations in 2002. The highest spending can be seen in food/drinks/tobacco in all countries whilst leisure/education was the lowest.
Turkey was the biggest spender both in food/drinks/tobacco and leisure/education at 32.14% and 4.35% respectively. Ireland's expenditure was the second highest in food/drinks/tobacco at 28.91% while the percentage of money used for leisure/education was the second lowest figure. Spain spent 18.80% in food/drinks/tobacco but comprised the least spending on leisure and education at 1.98%. The expenditure of these three countries on clothing /footwear was on average at around 6.5%
Italy was by far the biggest consumer of clothing/footwear among other nations in the period given, whereas Sweden had the smallest spending. Expenditure of both countries in food/drinks/tobacco and leisure/ education was roughly 16% and 3% respectively.
