The table shows the percentage of money that consumers spend on various items, like food, clothes and education, in five European countries during the year 2002.
Overall, the table illustrates that the most percentage of money spent in each country was on food, drinks and tobacco, while least expenditure was on education and leisure. However, among nations, Turkey came on top of food expenditure as well as leisure, while Italian seemed to spend more on clothes and footwear.
Firstly, food, drinks and tobacco spending was highest in Turkey at 32.14 percent, as mentioned above. Closely behind was Ireland at 32.14 percent, while lowest spending was found to be in Sweden, only 15.77 percent.
Secondly, clothing and footwear expenditure was dominated by Italy at 9 percent, second highest was Turkey at 6.63 percent and this was followed by 6.43 percent spending of Ireland. Once again, the Sweden came last, as it only spent 5 .40 percent on clothes.
Thirdly, leisure and education was topped again by Turkey at 4.35 percent, which was followed by Sweden and Italy at 3.22 and 3.20 percent respectively. The least amount of spending was recorded in Spain, as it spent merely 1.98 percent of their total expenditure on this.
