The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002

The table demonstrates the percentage of consumer spending on items classified into categories in five different countries in 2002.
Food/Drink/Tobacco was the smallest expenditure item for Turkey and Ireland, with all of them spending more than and approximately one-third of their money, at 32.14% and 28.91% respectively. In contrast, Sweden, Spain and Italy spent on this with around a half than Turkey and Ireland.
All five countries spent much less on the remaining two items. For clothing/footwear, Ireland, Spain and Turkey spent the same amount of consumer expenditure, at around 7% respectively. Italy was the country which accounted for the largest percentage for clothing/footwear expenditure, at exactly 9% whereas Sweden spent the least, at less than 6%. In addition, the consumer spending on leisure/education in Turkey was twice that in Ireland and Spain, at 2.21% and 1.98% respectively. At more than 3%, with Italy and Sweden’s spending between those other three nations.
It is clear that all five countries practically spent money on food/drinks/tobacco more than clothing/footwear and leisure/education.
