The given table illustrates data about how many passengers chose three major airports in Britain from 1998 to 2003.

From an overall view, Gatwick airport witnessed an upward trend in the number of travelers whereas Stansted’s figure underwent the same trend. Besides, the data on Heathrow seemed to fluctuate during the period.

Regarding Gatwick airport, it experienced dramatic growth since there were more than 33 million travelers booked by the end of 2003. The number leveled off extremely from 36.5 million at the beginning to 69.3 million, considering a rapid economic climb. This helped Gatwick become the most popular airport of the time. It is interesting that Stansted airport saw a similar trend to Gatwick. Starting at 17.3 million passengers, the number surged in the next two years to approximately 39.9 million before remaining unchanged for the rest of the period.

Turning to the last one, Heathrow, the given data indicated a fluctuating number of people who chose this airport. In the first two years, there was a marginal increase in population from 27.2 to 48.2 million. In spite of the improvement, it underwent a slight drop in the next two years before ending the period with 45.6 million passengers.
