The table represents the difference in household types in Great Britain from 1971 to 2007. It is divided into two main columns: household types and percentages of them.
A one person household type was increased between 1971 and 2007 and this can be related to the amount of young single people who decided to live alone or it can be connected to the fact that a lot of students live alone in cities which are not them for their studies.
The same happens in one-family households type. This can be divided into couple and lone parent. In the case of couples there is an increasing in families with no children that in 2007 reach the percentage of 25%. This can be related to the fact that people don’t want to have offspring until they don’t have an economical stability. This is related to the decrease of families with dependent children who diminish from 52% in 1971 to 36% in 2007. The same happens in the case of non-dependent children who decrease because they leave home to live alone.
In conclusion, in the society there is an increase in people who want to leave alone and a diminish in people who wants a family, especially with children.
