The table illustrates the percentage of different kinds of families who were living in insufficiency in Australia in 1999.
As can be seen from the table, the highest proportion is those consisting of one parent with 21%, followed by a single adult with 19% while the average of all households is far fewer only with 11%, comprising nearly 2 million individuals.
It seems to be better for coupe without children and the single aged person with 6%and 7% respectively. However, it is still conspicuous for type household with children as it is higher than the average proportion with 12%
The household consisting of older people tended to be the lowest one among all types of with only 4% which shows that they had a better living condition at that time.
Overall, it is apparent that in 6 types of a given household, the families with single adult and sole parents were more likely to be living in poverty than those with the aged couples.
