Overall, it is clear that the overall export values witnessed an uptrend between 2009 and 2010. Besides, metals documented the highest growth in exporting while manufacturing hit the most significant decrease.
At the beginning of the period shown, the export values of equipment were highest at 10.38 billion HK dollars, making up for a third of the figure for the export values of overall turnovers. In addition, telecommunity accounted for 7.9 billion HK dollars in 1997, but that overtook the first position in exporting in 2010 with 11.6 billion HK dollars.
Between 2009 and 2010, there was a gradual decrease in export metals from 2.3 billion HK dollars to 5 billion HK dollars, whereas the opposite was true for clothing and manufacturing, between 6 and 5 billion HK dollars, 5.5 and 4 billion HK dollars, respectively. In addition, the growth of telecommunity was three times larger than the overall earnings, particularly 61%, and 20%.
