The table shows data about underground railway systems in six major cities with data opened, kilometers of route and passenger numbers per year in millions
The given picture details about subway systems in various cities with data opened, kilometers of route and passenger numbers each year in millions.
Looking from an overall perspective, the earlier underground railways tend to be longer and have a larger capacity than the latter ones. Tokyo stands out for serving the most passengers and London for being both the oldest and longest.
London was the oldest underground railway (1863) and its length is nearly double the second one, in Paris, which was built in 1900 (394 meters compared to 199 meters). However, the underground railway in Paris now serves by far more passengers annually (1191 million) than in London (775 million). Turning to Tokyo, it was built later than the aforementioned subway systems (1927) and its length is 155 kilometers which is shorter than in London and Paris, but its capacity is larger and allowed for 1928 million passengers per year.
In terms of the more modern subway system, the underground railway was constructed in 1976 with the largest length of the 3 at 126 kilometers and serve 144 million passengers each year. The two remaining subway system was built in 1981 and 2001 respectively with 11 meters long for Kyoto and 28 meters long for Los Angeles and the gap between their capacity is not significant with 45 million passengers and 50 million passengers correspondingly.
