The given diagram illustrates the number of forest area in hectares in six different regions of the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America as well as Oceania, in the years of 1990, 2000 and 2005.

Overall, it is evident that Africa, Oceania, North America and South America experienced a downward trend in the number of forested area in millions of hectares over the period of 16 years, while both Asia and Europe witnessed an upward trend.

There was a significant rise in the number of European forested land. Europe also remained the largest number of forest land in 1990, 2000 and 2005, accounted for 989,000,000, 998,000,000 and 1001,000,000 hectares, respectively. In contrast, South American forested area decreased significantly from 946,000,000 ha in 1990 to 882,000,000 ha in 2005.

In terms of North America and Oceania, the number of forest area dropped slightly from 708 million to 705 million and from 199 million to 197 million, respectively, between 1990 and 2005.
