The forest area in Europe increased significantly from 989 to 1001 million hectares. That figures of Asia witnessed the same trend by rising to 584 million hectares. However, South America and Africa experienced an opposite trend, the amount of their land provided for jungle has a considerable fall before reaching it bottom in 2005. In Oceania, there was a slight decrease in 2000 and reached a lowest point at 197 million hectares, it was also the smallest forested area reported in 2005.
