The above table compares the forested areas of different countries in term of the number of hectare and the change of these areas from 1990 to 2005.
Overall, it is immediately obvious that the forested area of most areas has been decreasing, except for Asia and Europe. In addition to this, the forested land in Europe was the largest one during the whole period.
Looking to the illustration, it can be seen that Europian nations has the biggest forested land in six areas, with 989 hectares in 1990 and 1001 hectares in 2005. The Europian and Asian forested area increased slightly by exactle 12 hectares and 8 hectares respectively during 1990-2005 period.
By constrast, the number of forested hectares of South America and Africa decreased considerably by 64 and 58 hectares respectively, falling to 882 and 691hectares respectively in 2005. The forested land for the North America and Oceania witnessed a slight fall during 15 years, reaching a final figure of just 705 and 197 hectares in 2005. The Oceanian forested area was the smallest one in all areas.
