The table shows the Proportions of Pupils Attending Four Secondary School Types between 2000 and 2009

The table depicts that the percentage of students who attended four secondary school categories from 2000 to 2009. The categories consist of specialist schools, grammar schools, voluntary schools, and community schools.

Overall, while the percentage of children studying at community schools increased, the other three categories dramatically dropped with the most noticeable decline being experienced by voluntary-controlled schools.

At the beginning, the proportion of attendance in specialist schools at 12% and continuously dropped 1% with interval 5 years. Grammar schools, in 2000, showed less than a quarter, and after 5 years dropped to 19% and in the last year became half of the beginning. It is noticeable that voluntary-controlled schools showed a considerable share from others of more half share in 2000 and dramatically decreased to 38% and 20% severally.

In contrast, community schools significantly surged by one-fifth in the first year. In 2009, this type displayed a considerable share rising to around 58%. From this table, it is noticeably that the proportion of attendance in specialist schools and community schools was equal (12%).
