The tables illustrate sales value of fairtrade-labelled coffee, a certain kind of coffee, and bananas in five countries in Europe during 1999 and 2004. Units are measured in million euros.
Overall, bananas market was accounted for more value than fairtrade-labelled coffee market, nevertheless, from 1999 to 2004, the sales of both products rose drastically in UK, Switzerland, and Belgium. Conversely, demand of bananas decrease significantly in Sweden and Denmark.
With regards to the sales of the fairtrade-labelled coffee in UK, it jumped from 1.5 million euros in 1999 to 20 million euros in 2004, the largest growth among those five countries. Likewise, in Switzerland, bananas market tripled its value in 1999, which was worth only 15 million euros, and landed at 47 million euros in 2004.
In contrast, in Sweden, money earned from bananas fell from 1.8 million euros to one million euros during that period. Moreover, there was similar decrease in Denmark, where the sales of bananas dropped by half just like what happened in Sweden.
