The given tables show information about the contrast between 3 European countries and the average in the extent of working hours in 2002.
For full-time workers, apart from Greece which had the highest working hours, the Netherlands and the UK both had lower average hours. To be more specific, male workers in Greece worked 2.1 hours more than average, which was 42.5 hours. Meanwhile, men in the Netherlands and the UK could rest more as they only spent 38 and 37.5 hours working. Similarly, Greek women spent 39.9 hours working, higher by 0.7, 1.9 and 2.9 hours compared to the European average, the Netherlands and the UK respectively.
A different picture occurred to part-timers as the average working hours in 3 surveyed countries were less than that of the average, which was 32 hours. Men in Greece, the Netherlands, and the UK spent the total of 30, 28.3 and 29 hours working part-time, whereas the amount of time women spent was 29.3, 29.2 and 28 hours respectively compared to 34 hours in average.
