There is no doubt that water covers up to 70 percent of the earth's surface, but fresh water accounts for only about 2 percent. Although this amount seems to be extremely small, people cannot live without it. My essay below will clarify how important fresh water is to human life as well as suggest some measures to preserve this precious resource.
To commence with, fresh water plays an indispensable part in daily activities. Human can not do anything without fresh water. Cooking needs water, taking shower needs water, doing gardening needs water, too. Besides, people's body must be always provided enough fresh water since water accounts for more than 70% body's weight. According to a recent survey, a famous American scientists showed that human being can survive for a week without food but they will die without water for no more than two days. Furthermore, fresh water is home of hundred types of shrimps, crabs and fish of farmers with the hope that they can escape from poverty, stabilize the economy and have a better life. In other words, water helps people balance their material life.
The role of fresh water is undeniable so people should work out solutions to preserve this resource. The government ought to support citizens to reuse water of possible so that water is able to be saved for other needy persons. Laws should be introduced to impede people from wasting and contaminating water. It will be better when individuals engage in protecting water campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of this valuable resource.
To sum up, fresh water is extremely necessary for daily life so people need to be responsible for preserving the valuable source.
