Task 1: Line graph The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population from 1950 to 2050.

The given line graph indicates the proportions of the population in New Zealand between 1950 and 2050. Overall, it is clear that the figures for people from 25-37 and over 65 years old declined throughout the years, while the opposite was true for people from 0-14 and 38-45. Also, the percentage of people over was highest over the period years.
In 1950, 25% and 60% people aged 38 to 45 and over 65, sightly higher than those were 0 to 14 and 25 to 37 years old, at 6% and 20% respectively. Over the next 10 years, a slight increase to 25%, 30% and 64% were seen in the figures for people from 25-37, 38-45 and over 65. In contrast, people aged 0 to 14 remained unchanged until 1990 and grew gradually to 10% in 2000, on the contrary, followed by a slow drop to 10% the figure for people aged 25-37 in 2000. The year 1990 witnessed a surge to the peak of 70% and 48% in the percentages of people from 38-45 and over 65 before plummeting to 61% and 40% in 2000.
The proportion of people from 0-14 will see a significant rise to 20% in 2050. The figures for others will follow an opposite pattern, decreasing to 55%, 39% and 1% in the same year.
