The chart below shows the changes that took place in three different areas of crime in New Port city center from 2003-2012.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

» Write at least 150 words.

The line graph illustrates the rate of criminal activity in Newport city during the years from 2003 to 2012. A comparison of burglary, car theft, and robbery offenders.

Overall, as can be seen from the chart, the burglary statistics showed a downward trend. However, there was a fluctuation in other two modes throughout the period. The most popular crime was burglary in 2004.

To begin with 2003, burglary was about 3400 cases outnumbered car theft approximately 2800 cases and robbery at just above 500. Over the next four years, the number of burglaries decreased significantly to approximately 1000 cases. From 2007 onwards, there were more cases of car theft than burglary, which was followed by robbery.

Car theft was a consistent level of crime from 2003 to 2005, around 2600 cases. In 2012, the number of crimes committed fell to less than 2500 cases. The number of robberies peaked in 2005 at 900, then dropped to 500 in 2008. This then climbed back to 700 in the following two years before remaining at that level at the end of the period.
